Cottages in the East of England
Norfolk cottages
Cottage breaks in Norfolk offer a refreshing escape from life's hustle and bustle. This is a quiet corner of England with a wonderfully varied coastline and, just inland, the famous Broads. Around every corner the visitor encounters pretty villages, traditional Norfolk cottages, unspoilt beaches, countryside and rivers teeming with wildlife, relaxed towns and, in Norwich, one of the best preserved cities in England.
Suffolk cottages
Suffolk possibly represents rural England at its very best. The county's gently undulating countryside and timeless seaside resorts are dotted with hidden gems simply waiting to be discovered by visitors enjoying one of our cottage breaks in East Anglia. A distinctive feature of the Suffolk coast is its many shingle beaches; these shelter a fascinating mix of wildlife and plants. What could be more pleasant than a stroll along the shore to view fishing boats - hauled up on the pebble banks or trawling out at sea - with the promise of their catch bought fresh from beach huts - for supper?
Holiday cottages Lincolnshire
It might surprise you to learn that Lincolnshire possesses some fine chalk hills, as well as sandy seaside resorts. The county's backbone is formed by the Wolds, a line of chalk hills classified as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. These are criss-crossed by lanes leading to pretty hamlets, and valleys cut by streams and rivers, the highest area of land in eastern England between Yorkshire and Kent. When it comes to cottage breaks Lincolnshire has some great family friendly resorts along the coast including Skegness, Mablethorpe and Cleethorpes.
Holiday cottages Essex
The Essex countryside that Constable once painted is still there waiting to delight those who seek pleasure in the less urban landscape of London's hinterland. The county's coastal villages and quiet estuaries contain many hidden treasures. Maldon is a delightful old Essex town on the River Blackwater where the graceful Thames sailing barges are moored, providing a splendid spectacle. At Colchester, the oldest recorded town in Britain, Roman walls and the town gate survive. Nearby is Constable Country - Dedham Vale and the Stour Valley, dissected by the meandering River Stour. Immortalised by John Constable in his paintings over 200 years ago, for some the countryside of this corner of East Anglia is the quintessential English rural landscape.
Cottages in Cambridgeshire
Cambridgeshire stretches across atmospheric Fenland, a landscape where water is never far away. Here, historic towns like Ely emerge almost like islands. Flat but far from featureless, the Fens are the essence of East Anglia offering opportunities for all kinds of water-based recreation and havens for a great diversity of wildlife.
