Cambridge is the jewel in its crown, one of the most beautiful cities in Britain with its magnificent university architecture. Its attractions are perhaps best enjoyed at a leisurely pace, by hiring a punt along the river. For those planning to stay at one of our Cambridgeshire cottages a visit to Ely is also recommended. This small city is dominated by its beautiful cathedral, one of England's largest. From its elevated position on a chalk hill, the imposing structure can be seen for miles around and is known locally as the 'Ship of the Fens'. Near Ely, the ruined buildings of Crowland Abbey - once the grandest abbey in the country are worth a visit. Don't miss the curious triangular bridge spanning dry land which stands at the centre of the village of Crowland.
