Here's what you can see and do when staying at one of our holiday cottages in Cheshire.
Cheshire has so much to offer and when it comes to holiday cottages Cheshire has a good choice across the county. It is peppered with historic houses and gardens, waterways, and bustling market towns. Its green pasture lands and farms are renowned for the production of the famous crumbly white Cheshire cheese. Scattered within this lovely area are the remarkable black and white half-timbered houses set in idyllic gardens which typify the Cheshire countryside as you explore out and about from your holiday cottage. Little Moreton Hall, just outside the pretty market town of Congleton, is an icon of English Tudor domestic architecture and Britain's most famous and arguably finest timber-framed manor house.
Salt has been produced in Cheshire for over 2,000 years and it is the only place in Britain where it is still produced on a large scale. The Salt Museum in Northwich tells the intriguing story of mid-Cheshire and the industry that has shaped the landscape and lives of those who live here. Northwich is also home to the Anderton Boat Lift, which is the world's first boat lift. You can take a trip on a glass-top boat as the impressive lift towers above you. Nantwich is an old salt-mining town, with black-and-white Tudor houses in quaint streets. In contrast nearby is Jodrell Bank, home of the world famous Lovell Radio Telescope.
Just before the Cheshire Plain gives way to the Peak District is Macclesfield most famous for its once thriving silk industry, commemorated in the local Silk Museum. If you are staying at any of our Cheshire cottages a visit to Tatton Park where the RHS hold an annual flower show in July is recommended. Set in over a thousand acres of deer park, it is considered to be one of England's most complete historic estates open to visitors. From our selection of cottages Chester, the county town which lies within easy reach, provides visitors with the unique and enjoyable experience of combining first-class shopping in the Rows (13th century covered walkways at first-floor level), with strolls along the city walls, or a visit to the Norman Cathedral. By selecting one of our holiday cottages Cheshire and its many attractions can be discovered.
