Here's what you can see and do when staying at one of our cottages in the Lothians.
East Lothian lies just to the east of Edinburgh and is officially the sunniest and driest area in Scotland, with more hours of sunshine than anywhere else in this country. It is a mix of sandy seashores, rich red agricultural soil, woodlands and rivers flowing down from the Lammermuir Hills through picturesque little villages of Lothian cottages. Golf reigns supreme in East Lothian - the golfer has a choice of nearly twenty courses in all including the famous Muirfield, Old Musselburgh and Gullane. North Berwick overlooks the Bass Rock with its huge range of seabirds which can be visited by boat. Nearby is the impressive cliff-top fortress of Tantallon Castle. Further down the coast lies Dunbar, a popular east of Scotland holiday resort. Known as the Garden of Scotland, you can savour delicious, fresh local produce including seafood. And don't forget to sample Scotland's national drink at the Glenkinchie Distillery. Based in one of our holiday cottages Lothian and these treasures are easily discovered.
