Here's what you can see and do when staying at one of our cottages in Midlothian.
Midlothian cottages offer the ideal accommodation for exploring this largely undiscovered area to the south and west of Edinburgh, often just passed through en-route for the capital. However it is steeped in history and full of beautiful scenery; from our holiday cottages Midlothian and nearby Edinburgh, Stirling, Fife and the Trossachs are easily accessible. In medieval times, the Knights Templar made their headquarters near Roslin having been driven from mainland Europe. Elaborately carved Rosslyn Chapel has long been associated with the Knights Templars and the Grail legend, featuring in Dan Brown's bestselling book The Da Vinci Code. The magnificent ruins of Linlithgow Palace are set in a park beside a loch. It was an important royal residence, the birthplace of James V and Mary Queen of Scots, and probably Scotland's finest surviving late medieval secular building.
