Chichester is the county town and one of the finest smaller cathedral cities in the country. Its layout and walls date from Roman times and it has splendid examples of late-18th and early-19th century architecture. The city is situated between two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty - the gorgeous rolling hills of the South Downs and the seclusion and tranquillity of Chichester harbour. This natural harbour of inter-tidal waters is just a few miles to the south of the city. The nearby coastline is endowed with glorious stretches of beaches. The resorts of Bognor Regis and Littlehampton both have award-winning beaches and everything you could need for a fun, safe day at the seaside. Both have fun-packed amusement parks right on the sea-front.

While staying in a holiday cottage Sussex and its many attractions can be discovered. For explorers of the English countryside, Arundel is hard to beat. It lies at the heart of the picturesque South Downs on the banks of the River Arun, dominated by the Gothic cathedral and a stunning Norman castle ��" which plays host to several events during the annual, highly-acclaimed Arundel Festival each August. Further afield are many other picturesque towns and villages to explore including the market towns of Midhurst and Petworth.
