For visitors thinking of booking a holiday cottage West Sussex could be the perfect destination. This is a beautiful county, with its stately homes, bustling market towns, glorious countryside, historic villages and award-winning beaches.
The county town of Chichester is one of the finest smaller cathedral cities in the country. The Romans were responsible for its original layout and the city walls date from these times, though it also boasts some splendid examples of late-18th and early-19th century architecture. Chichester is fortunate in being located between two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty - the rolling hills of the South Downs and the natural harbour which takes its name. These inter-tidal waters can be found just a few miles to the south of the city. The nearby resorts of Bognor Regis and Littlehampton have award-winning beaches and all the facilities a family might need for a fun, safe day at the seaside. Both have sea-front amusement parks.
While staying at one of our holiday cottages West Sussex and its many attractions can be discovered. For lovers of the English countryside, Arundel is hard to beat. It lies at the heart of the picturesque South Downs on the banks of the River Arun, dominated by a Gothic cathedral and stunning Norman castle - which plays host to several events during the annual, highly-acclaimed Arundel Festival each August. Further afield are more picturesque sites including the market towns of Midhurst and Petworth. If you are staying at any of our West Sussex cottages a visit to one of the many impressive historic houses and gardens is also recommended.
