For those thinking of Cornish cottage holidays, the north coast could be the perfect destination. This is an area of dramatic, rugged coastline steeped in history and legend. The seaside town of Bude has been popular since Victorian times and today families find the small, friendly resort an ideal base for Cornish cottage holidays. There are miles of sandy beaches, backed by some of the best coastal scenery in the UK. Much of the surrounding landscape has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Bude and this part of Cornwall is unspoilt and untamed, offering a genuine Cornish welcome to its visitors.
When staying at any of our holiday cottages in Cornwall, a visit to King Arthur's reputed cliff-top home -Tintagel - is also recommended. By contrast, the popular resort of Newquay and its 11 sandy beaches is famous for its great surf.
When it comes to self catering Cornwall offers the visitor a choice of cottages in Padstow, recently made famous by restaurateur Rick Stein. This has always been a bustling little port; today local fisherman are kept busy supplying the many fish restaurants which have recently sprung up in the town. Not far from Bude is Boscastle, set deep in a valley running down to its sheltered harbour. Just around the corner from Polzeath, on its headland, lie the upmarket seaside village of Rock and pretty Port Isaac.
At the very south-western tip of England, the Penwith Peninsula presents its magnificent coastline to the sea. Gently rolling moors to the north and rugged, windswept cliffs to the south characterise this area. Colourful St Ives has a Mediterranean feel, with its quality of light, maze of narrow, cobbled streets and fishermens' cottages. This is the haunt of artists; galleries and studios cluster around the picturesque harbour and famous Tate St Ives overlooking the white sands of Carbis Bay. Not far away, cliff-top St Just is Britain's most westerly town more reminiscent of a Breton community.
Cornish cottage holidays bring to mind beautiful beach scenes and there can be few finer than Sennen Cove. This sweep of empty, golden sand and pleasantly weathered houses strung along the hillfoot can be found just a few miles from iconic Land's End.Cottages close to North Cornwall
