For a short break staying in holiday cottages Flintshire ranks high. With its charming mix of villages, traditional market towns, sandy beaches, medieval castles and some of the most stunning scenery in North Wales, the area has much to offer. If you are staying at any of our Flintshire cottages a trip to the county town of Flint, on the River Dee, is recommended. Although its 13th-century castle may not boast the grandeur of Edward I's better-known constructions at Conwy and Harlech, it is still worth seeing. Meanwhile, Holywell is famous for its Holy Well of St Winifride and has been a place of pilgrimage since medieval times. The Dee estuary is internationally important for wildlife; here migrating birds can over-winter on a Site of Special Scientific Interest, while Talacre's expanse of dune-backed beach is home to one of Wales' rarest creatures. By Talacre's lighthouse stands watch over sun-loving holiday makers but by night, this is the haunt of sand-loving natterjack toads once found all along the north Wales coast. By selecting one of our holiday cottages Flintshire and the many attractions of North East Wales can be discovered.
