With more than 50 beaches to choose from in the area, it is perhaps not surprising to know that this is a popular destination for a cottage holiday in Wales. The National Park covers a third of Pembrokeshire including the upper reaches of the Daugleddau Estuary and the Preseli Mountains. The Daugleddau Estuary, known to locals as the secret waterway, offers visitors extensive creeks and river channels to explore totalling 24 miles in all and is overlooked by the mysterious Preseli Mountains, homeland of the ancient Celts. Their rounded peaks offer great walking country and are believed to have supplied the rock which built Stonehenge 4000 years ago. Significant stretches of coastline here are protected by National Trust status, especially around Barafundle beach, Marloes, St David's, Porthgain and Dinas. The Trust also runs the superb Colby Woodland Gardens at Amroth and the Tudor Merchant's house near Tenby harbour.
When it comes to holiday cottages Pembrokeshire offers a wide choice, located mainly on, or near, the coast. Bustling Tenby has managed to retain its character with fine Georgian houses overlooking the handsome harbour, backed by a well-preserved medieval cliff-top town of narrow streets and passages. For families on holiday there is no shortage of leisure parks including Oakwood Theme Park, the Folly Farm attraction and Great Wedlock Dinosaur Park. The National Park also runs activities and events for all ages such as rock pool safaris, crab catching and bat walks. If you are staying at any of our Pembrokeshire holiday cottages a visit to St David's, Britain's smallest city, is recommended. This picturesque coastal village boasts its own cathedral. An ancient site of pilgrimage, the Patron Saint of Wales, St David, was born here. By selecting one of our holiday cottages Pembrokeshire and its many attractions can be discovered.Cottages close to Pembrokeshire
