This attractive Cumbrian cottage lies at the foot of the dramatic northern Pennines. It is built from local red sandstone, like many buildings in the villages in this part of the Eden Valley. This and the long, wide village greens surrounded by attractive farms and cottages give the area a most appealing and distinct character. The walking in the area is superb; whether it be the demanding ascent of nearby Cross Fell - the highest peak in the Pennines, the truly spectacular High Cup Nick; or more gentle walks in the vale, such as along the Eden in Appleby or the steep wooded ravine of nearby Dufton Ghyll, with a spectacular bluebell carpet in the spring where red squirrels can often be seen.
