The castle has dominated the town since medieval times and you may recognise it from its recent starring role as Hogwarts in the Harry Potter series of films. Beyond the castle is the fabulous Alnwick Garden which is a joy not just for keen gardeners but also families and warrants a full day's visit itself.

Set in Pottergate, a quiet street in the centre of Alnwick, this two bedroom house (left of left photograph) is only two minutes walk from Alnwicks fairytale castle while the internationally acclaimed gardens are under 15 minutes walk away. Ideally located for year round visits, Alwick’s many shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants are close by while the Northumberland coast with its long sandy beaches and pretty seaside villages like Alnmouth and Craster, are a 10 minute drive. Warkworth with its imposing castle, quaint shops and cafes is a 8 mile drive. Northumberland National Park is worth exploring and is just 17 miles away while the ports of Amble and Seahouses, Bamburgh Castle, Holy Island and Cragside House (NT) are all within a 30 minute drive.
