In a nutshell: Beautiful setting, ideal for wildlife lovers. Our featured Argyll cottages include this comfortable property close to the famous Bridge over the Atlantic, just south of Oban. Clachan Bridge crosses tidal water which flows from the Atlantic Ocean to Seil Island. Opinions differ about whether Seil should be counted as an island at all, the latest development occurred in 2011 when the Scottish Government withdrew its special island status funding for cost saving reasons. Just over the bridge you come to the Tigh an Truish Inn. The name means house of the trousers and comes from the period after the 1745 rebellion when kilts were banned. This was the place where islanders heading for the mainland were said to have swapped their kilts for trousers.
