For visitors thinking of booking holiday cottages in Scotland, the Borders, could be the perfect destination. A major attraction for walkers is the coastal path along the wild and rugged Berwickshire coastline. If you are staying at any of our Berwickshire cottages a visit to St Abb's Head National Nature Reserve is recommended. From the cliff-top vantage point birdwatchers can expect to see nesting puffins, guillemots, kittiwakes and shags from April to August particularly. The remote fishing village of St Abbs is surrounded by jagged cliffs, and old fishermen's cottages tumbling down to the surf-battered harbour. Sea angling, sub-aqua diving, bird-watching and regular sightseeing boat trips run from the harbour.

In the glorious countryside of Berwickshire, near the historic villages of Coldingham, St Abbs and Eyemouth, lies Press Castle, a 17th century manor house of great character and charm. Newly refurbished and divided into well appointed apartments, two of which we offer here, it nestles within 13 acres of lovely grounds, home to badgers and red squirrels. Award winning beaches, a marine reserve, NTS properties, fishing villages, surfing, diving and superb golf courses are all close by, and there is wonderful walking in the Cheviot Hills and along the coast. Edinburgh is under an hour’s drive. Shop and pub 2 miles.
