For visitors to Cheshire holiday cottages make an ideal base from which to explore the wild and rugged Peak District as well as the pretty half-timbered towns and villages of the Cheshire Plain. This property is on the edge of Macclesfield, a prosperous market town in rolling countryside leading up to the Peak District National Park. It is most famous for its once thriving silk industry. This is celebrated at the Silk Museum and the nearby Paradise Mill, once a working silk mill, but now a living museum with mill tours. Wharf Cottage is situated on the Macclesfield Canal, one of the last canals to be built in Britain, which forms part of the Cheshire Ring of several interconnected canals.
