For centuries the countryside retreat of the rich and famous, the Peak District and Derbyshire now has a wonderful legacy of stately homes and gardens. Kedleston Hall is just a few miles from this Peak District cottage. The Robert Adam-designed building boasts some of the finest unaltered Adam interiors in England and the extensive surrounding parkland, also designed by Adam, is notable for its series of lakes and cascades, fishing pavilion and bridge.

Adjoining the owners home it is within 8 miles is Ashbourne and Matlock Bath's visitor attractions. Kedleston Hall (N.T.) is 4 miles and Sudbury Hall, Chatsworth, Haddon Hall and Alton Towers are all within easy reach. Carsington Water with watersports,cycling and fishing within 5 miles. Shops 1½ miles and and 3 pubs serving food 1 mile.

Peter has worked in senior positions within the travel industry for nearly 30 years.
I was a journalist and latterly a deputy editor of a newspaper until I began to raise my family. We are both keen walkers and have the good fortune to live in the Yorkshire Dales. We both have a passion for exploring this beautiful island of ours and believe that staying in self catering holiday cottages is one of the best ways to really get to know the UK. There is so much variety in the landscape, the architecture, the customs, the food and drink and the people.
Despite increasing uniformity, we believe that you can still discover this rich diversity if you look hard enough and you will have a much more fulfilling holiday for that. Plus, we not only want to share our passion for the UK countryside with you, but want you to share thoughts and ideas with us to possibly help someone else choose the right place for their holiday cottage.
