Wren's Nest is within walking distance of Wirksworth, a modest small town with narrow streets and a maze of interesting alleyways well work exploring. Lead mining was the basis of Wirksworth's past prosperity - which is portrayed at the highly acclaimed Heritage Centre. The lead miners used to live in a jumble of small Derbyshire cottages, built mostly of random stone extracted from nearby quarries, clinging to the hillside. In places it is possible to walk from the garden of one house onto the roof of another below.
A beautifully cosy and romantic detached barn conversion, Wren's Nest enjoys lovely views over village and countryside from its orchard setting. Little Bolehill is a pretty hamlet, with no through traffic, just a half mile walk from the shops, restaurants, pubs and markets of historic Wirksworth. The new World Heritage site in Cromford, Crich Tramway Museum, Carsington watersports lake and the Heights of Abraham cable car rides and caverns are all within 5 miles. Magnificent Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are both 10 miles, and, 20 miles away, Alton Towers offers a fun day out. Cycle hire, swimming, tennis, riding, fishing and golf can all be enjoyed locally.
