While staying at one of these holiday cottages Dorset and its many attractions can be explored. They are situated just two miles from Sherborne, an historic market town in north-west Dorset near the border with Somerset. The countryside around here was the setting for Hardy's Tess of the D'Urbervilles - with Sherborne renamed as Sherton Abbas in the book. It is a town of mellow-stoned buildings, two impressive castles and an abbey set amidst beautiful green valleys around the River Stour and wooded hills on the edge of Blackmore Vale.
