When staying in one of these cottages Dorset, its heritage and landscape, are within easy reach. For beer lovers, in the nearby market town of Bridport is Palmers Brewery. Situated on the banks of the river, on the southern edge of the town, it claims to be Britain's only thatched brewery. The brewery boasts that it has been in operation since 1794 making it one of the few in the country to remain in continuous production for more than 200 years on the original site. In the past the brewery made the most of its riverside location, transporting beer to its destination by boat, though nowadays the river is no longer navigable. The tour will take you through historic brewery buildings and will cover all aspects of the brewing process as well as the production of Palmers famous Golden Cap blended whisky.

Standing in an area of outstanding natural beauty, with the lovely Dorset hills rising steeply around, this unique collection of properties is set within the grounds of the owner’s working farm on the edge of the picturesque and tranquil village of West Milton. Individually designed and furnished for comfort, each cottage offers delightful surroundings in which to enjoy a relaxing holiday.
Walkers can enjoy discovering a very varied landscape, from high chalk hills, through the winding lanes of sleepy valleys to the dramatic cliffs of Golden Cap (N.T.). The nearest beach is at West Bay, just 4 miles away, where rowing boats can be hired and fishing trips arranged. Along the coast is Lyme Regis, whose sheltered harbour famously featured as a setting for the film The French Lieutenant’s Woman. The historic market town of Dorchester is 15 miles. Weymouth (14 miles) offers everything from water sports to night clubs. Shops, restaurants and pubs within 3 miles.
