On arrival at one of our cottages in Dorset you will be keen to discover what the county has to offer. This house is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty in north-west Dorset, bordering both Somerset and Devon. Nearby are the two highest points in the county, both with footpaths to their summits - known locally at the Cow and Calf hills. Lewesdon is round and wooded whilst Pilsdon is elongated and bare. Like many of the high hills in the area they are both the site of Iron Age hill forts. Also close at hand is Forde Abbey, with its award-winning gardens a cascade of lakes providing a wonderful setting for the Centenary Fountain, the highest powered fountain in England. Less than ten miles away is the Jurassic Coast - with beaches world famous for fossil hunting - as well as charming seaside towns such as Lyme Regis.
