This modern property is situated just outside a quintessentially English village, the second highest village in the county and the source of the River Frome, the major chalk stream in south-west England which flows through Dorchester on its way to the sea in Poole Harbour. This is the heart of Hardy's Wessex and it is believed that the village has featured in several of his novels. Just a few miles away are the ruins of the abbey at Cerne Abbas and its more infamous Giant, a 180-foot rather nude male etched into the chalk.

Set on the owners’ non working farm, it offers comfortable, modern accommodation just 0.5 miles from Evershot village. Historic Dorchester, with the famous Judge Jeffreys Tea Rooms, the Cerne Abbas Giant, Yeovilton Fleet Air Arm Museum, and Abbotsbury Gardens and Swannery are all within an easy drive. Bridport and the beautiful beaches at Weymouth and West Bay are all less than 15 miles. Riding, golf and fishing within 8 miles. Shop and pub 0.5 miles.

When we decided to set up UK Cottages we wanted to offer a website that helps you to research an area of the UK which might be of interest to you, give you an idea of what it has to offer and then present you with a selection of quality-assured self catering holiday cottages from our trusted partners to suit your needs. Peter has worked in senior positions within the travel industry for nearly 30 years.
I was a journalist and latterly a deputy editor of a newspaper until I began to raise my family. We are both keen walkers and have the good fortune to live in the Yorkshire Dales. We both have a passion for exploring this beautiful island of ours and believe that staying in self catering holiday cottages is one of the best ways to really get to know the UK. There is so much variety in the landscape, the architecture, the customs, the food and drink and the people.
Despite increasing uniformity, we believe that you can still discover this rich diversity if you look hard enough and you will have a much more fulfilling holiday for that.
