Once settled in your choice of our holiday cottages in Dorset this historic county invites exploration. This modern property is situated just outside a quintessentially English village, the second highest village in the county and the source of the River Frome, the major chalk stream in south-west England which flows through Dorchester on its way to the sea in Poole Harbour. This is the heart of Hardy's Wessex and it is believed that the village has featured in several of his novels. Just a few miles away are the ruins of the abbey at Cerne Abbas and its more infamous Giant, a 180-foot rather nude male etched into the chalk.
