When it comes to holiday cottages Essex has a good choice of beachside properties. This holiday home is in Clacton, a popular seaside town with tree-lined streets, a mix of sand and shingle beaches and beautiful cliff-top gardens. It has been dubbed the 'capital' of the so-called Essex Sunshine Coast. Clacton developed from a small village into a seaside resort in the late 19th-century with the fashion for coastal health and bathing. Paddle steamers provided the first direct route to the resort before the railway line opened in 1882. Today Clacton Pier seems to provide almost every conceivable amusement and is probably best described as a fairground over the sea.
Just 20 yards from the sandy beach and enjoying spectacular views over Martello Bay, this spacious property, with its 'upside down' design and landscaped enclosed rear garden, is the perfect location for a family holiday. One of a row, and set close to the golf course, it is under a mile from Clacton's shops, pubs, pleasure pier (pictured) and seafront gardens. Numerous restaurants provide choice of cuisines and the designer village offers great shopping opportunities. A short drive leads to the historic and lovely town of Colchester, with its famous zoo and castle, and the scenic pleasures of Constable Country.
