Among the holiday cottages Essex can offer is this charming property close to Maldon, a delightful old hilltop town on the River Blackwater where the graceful Thames sailing barges are moored and provide a splendid spectacle. Sea trade has played an important role in the region's history, and still does. Traditional industries such as barge repairing, boat building, sail making and oyster fishing still thrive in the area and sea salt is still harvested from the Blackwater estuary. The estuaries are internationally recognised for their wildlife. Many opportunities exist for bird watchers, artists and walkers to explore the coast. Inland there are enchanting quiet villages, interesting churches and old pubs to discover. To see all of our Essex cottages click here.
