This holiday cottage is just north of the village of St. Briavels (pronounced 'Brevels') which stands on the edge of a limestone plateau about 800 feet above the Wye Valley with spectacular views of the Black Mountains in Wales. The village is centred around its church and 12th-century castle, which in ancient times was used as a hunting lodge. Each year on Whit Sunday (the date varies but usually between late May and mid June) bread and cheese is thrown from the wall of the castle to local 'Dole Claimers' dressed in medieval costume.
