Set close to Martin Mere wildfowl reserve and 6 miles from the red squirrel sanctuary at Formby, it lies within easy reach of the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, Blackpool, Chester and North Wales, whilst Liverpool’s Albert Dock museums and Beatles’ homes are readily accessed by rail from the local station (1.5 miles).
