These two delightful Lincolnshire holiday cottages are just four miles from the market town of Gainsborough, which claims to be Britain's most inland port, lying on the River Trent. The waterfront has recently been regenerated, but the town's jewel is Gainsborough Old Hall. This magnificent medieval manor house is one of the best in the country. Partly brick and partly timber-framed and mainly later 15th century with Elizabethan additions, it has a kitchen with an enormous fireplace, a noble great hall, and an imposing lodgings tower. From the top of the towers there are wonderful views of the Trent Valley.

Nestling on the edge of a 50 acre pine forest, where deer are often seen and owls are resident, these two delightful cottages enjoy glorious views and an ideal location for short breaks or family holidays. The surrounding landscape offers lovely walking, cycling and bird watching, whilst Lincoln city's cathedral and famous Christmas Market, York with its Minster and quaint streets, and the excellent shopping in Sheffield's Meadow Hall are all within an easy drive. A gentle stroll leads to the local farm shop (open 3 days a week) and the ice cream parlour in Blyton (2 miles) promises delightful indulgence. The River Trent and good shops in Gainsborough are 4 miles. Shop and pubs serving food 2 miles.
