On arrival at one of our Cornish cottages you will be keen to discover what the county has to offer. Just a couple of miles away is the village of Altarnum, probably one of the prettiest in Cornwall. Nestling in a valley there is a 15th-century packhorse bridge across the river, many attractive granite buildings as well a fine church, known as the 'Cathedral of the Moors'. The Rectory is featured in the novel Jamaica Inn by Daphne du Maurier, who was said to have been a visitor to the house. Just a short drive away is Launceston, an ancient market town which was once the capital of old Cornwall. It is quintessentially Cornish, with its Georgian houses, narrow streets and market square all overlooked by its castle keep high on a mount.

Ideally located for exploring the myriad delights of Cornwall and Devon, these cosy and comfortable adjoining converted barns lie just 6 miles from the charming historic market town of Launceston and its steam railway. Adjacent to the owners’ working farm, close to the main route through Cornwall, The Barns are perfectly situated for trips to the north and south coasts of the country, with Boscastle, Tintangel and the surfing beaches of Bude about a half hours’ journey away whilst the delightful resorts of Looe and Polperro on the south coast are also just a short drive. Even closer are the glorious landscape of Bodmin Moor and Jamaica Inn (10 miles) of Daphne du Mauier fame, whilst Trethorne leisure park is only 4 miles away. A pub serving food is 1.5 miles, there is a shop at the garage opposite and Launceston offers extensive shopping and restaurants.
