Our featured Cornwall holiday cottages include this cosy property in Pendeen on Cornwall's remote Penwith Peninsula, half way between Lands End and St Ives. The village grew in the 19th century when the local tin and copper mines were thriving. From here there are glorious coastal walks on one of the most dangerous and dramatic stretches of coastline, features many reminders of the mining industry that once dominated this area. Just along the coast and very close to Land's End is Sennen Cove, one of the loveliest stretches of sand in Cornwall. St Ives has a colourful, Mediterranean atmosphere. With its maze of cobbled streets and jumble of fishermen's cottages it is the haunt of artists with galleries and studios centred around the picturesque harbour and the famous Tate St Ives overlooking the beach. Not surprisingly it can get busy in the summer, however with a great choice of beaches to choose from you can still get away from the crowds.
Set just 1½ mile from Pendeen lighthouse and superb coastal path walking, Yellowsands is ideally placed for exploring the far west of Cornwall. Standing on the coast road, with its breathtaking scenery east to St Ives or west to Land's End, it is 7 miles from Sennen's bathing and surfing beach, and Penzance, with its shops, galleries and helicopter or ferry crossings to the Isles of Scilly. Picturesque fishing villages, Porthcurno's telegraphy museum and the Minack open air theatre are all close by. Pub across road, shop ¾ mile.
