When it comes to holiday cottages Devon has many tucked away in idyllic rural settings. These stylish Devon cottages are in an area enclosed by the upland expanses of Bodmin, Exmoor and Dartmoor, and to the north by the wild north Devon coast. This is farming country - Devon at its most rural - and sadly an area particularly affected by foot-and-mouth in 2001. Local councils and environmental groups decided to band together to develop a more diverse - but sustainable - economy. The result is 'Ruby Country' - a rural regeneration initiative which deserves support. Ruby Country is very much 'undiscovered Devon'. A haven of tranquillity, you can discover deepest, darkest Devon, where you can experience the peace and quiet of being truly off the beaten track.

Property Description

A heated indoor swimming pool adds to the attractions of these superbly renovated and stylishly furnished barn conversions. Set at the end of a private drive amidst beautiful countryside, they lie in ‘Ruby Country’, an area bristling with footpaths, cycle tracks and bridleways. There is a community shop and friendly village pub 1 mile away, serving good food and award-winning ales. About 6 miles away are both the attractive market town of Hatherleigh and Okehampton, gateway to superb walking, riding and fishing in wildly beautiful Dartmoor. Castle Drogo, Widecombe-in-the-Moor and Rosemoor RHS Gardens, are a short trip; sandy beaches at Bude and Westward Ho! are a 45 minutes’ drive. Attractive, very comfortable and well equipped, all the cottages are grouped around a landscaped courtyard (car free except for unloading and disabled visitors), each enjoying its own patio area. A games room and a children’s play area are provided and 3 acres of grounds are bordered by the River Okement (fenced for children’s safety) in a very peaceful setting. Lovely city of Exeter 40 minute drive.
