Property Description

This spacious farmhouse, parts of which date back to the 14th century, is set in 5 acres of natural grounds affording uninterrupted views (pictured) over the Ettrick Valley. There is an abundance of wildlife in the vicinity including red squirrels, ospreys and peregrines. With Selkirk, the setting for Sir Walter Scott’s Courthouse, just 3 miles away, this is an ideal location for exploring many of the Border towns, including Melrose, venue for Scotland’s oldest Rugby Sevens competition, Jedburgh and Mary Queen of Scotts House, Hawick, Galashiels and Peebles. For walking enthusiasts, the Southern Upland Way passes nearby and there are numerous marked walks around the Border towns, along riverbanks and in the surrounding countryside. Great mountain biking can be enjoyed at Glentress and Innerleithen and visitors to Hartwoodmyres also enjoy free fishing at nearby Maggets Reservoir. Clay pigeon shooting can be arranged at cost, riding and golf are available nearby, whilst 15 miles away, St Mary’s Loch, the largest natural loch in the Borders, is a fine spot for sailing and fishing. And just an hour’s drive away lies Edinburgh, a beautiful city famous for its international arts festivals, its historic buildings, castle, museums, art galleries and good restaurants and street cafes. Pub serving food 3 miles, shop 5 miles.
