It is situated in the wide valley of the River Tone between the Brendon and Blackdown Hills, close to the small market town of Wellington which gave its name to the famous victor of the Battle of Waterloo. The 175ft column built on the edge of the Blackdown Hills, just outside the town, was erected in his honour. At night it is illuminated and is a landmark for miles around. The monument can be climbed and offers a superb view across the Somerset countryside. Wellington has recently become a 'Food Town' and hosts various events and initiatives to celebrate the best in local food and drink. The monthly farmer's market is heaven for foodies; fantastic local cheeses, meat from nearby farms and real cider give you a great taste of Somerset.

This attractive and comfortable cottage is set within 300 yards of the Grand Western Canal and Country Park which offers a delightful towpath walk or cycle, abundant fishing, boat hire or a lunch in a canalside pub. It is within easy reach of Taunton and Tiverton and further afield to the north is the rolling beauty of Exmoor, plus the resorts of Minehead, and Lynmouth. To the south are the famed resorts of Lyme Regis, Sidmouth and Beer. An abundance of National Trust properties are within easy reach. Shop and friendly pub 1 mile. There are a host of excellent restaurants nearby.
