A popular destination for those seeking to stay in holiday cottages Somerset offers the chance to enjoy the best of the coast and countryside. Exmoor is a beautiful and peaceful place to visit. The small winding roads take you through the varied countryside of heather moorland, farmland, ancient wooded valleys, spectacular coastal cliffs and historic villages. Nearby is Dunster Castle with its beautiful hilltop gardens and parkland offering fantastic views across Exmoor. Also nearby is Watchet, a lovely little coastal town between the Quantock Hills and Exmoor, whilst a little further along the coast is Minehead, a traditional seaside resort with its promenade, palm trees, extravagant floral displays and long, sandy beach.

Property Description

Close to Exmoor National Park, and set in 17.5 acres of beautiful grounds where woodpeckers and kingfishers flourish, these comfortable holiday properties have been created within a splendid, early 1800s country house. The house is now divided into three – Lowood forms the central part and Littlewood is a ground floor apartment with its own entrance to the right of the front door (the owners occupy one wing). Carriage driving is offered here (at cost) and there is a small CC (5 vans) site in high season. Minehead, with good shopping and famous Blue Anchor Bay, is about 5 miles as are Dunster Castle, the West Somerset Steam Railway and Watchet’s picturesque harbour. Just a little further away, visitors can explore the pretty village of Porlock, Porlock Weir and its small harbour and the delightful resorts of Lynton and Lynmouth, linked by a unique cliff railway. Pubs serving food and shop/P.O. about 0.5 mile.

Peter has worked in senior positions within the travel industry for nearly 30 years.
