Within walking distance of this cottage is Praa Sands, one of Cornwall's best kept secrets - a long unspoilt white sandy beach with low-tide rock pools at each end of the beach, surrounded by beautiful cliffs and coastal paths, stunning sunsets and seaside scenery. A mile long beach of golden sand, pronounced locally as 'Pray Sands', it is a fully lifeguarded, blue flag beach. The surf is very often excellent and is probably the premier south coast surf venue. When there isn't any surf there are wonderful coastal paddle tours along the surrounding cliffs. To the west of the beach lies Sydney Cove and Hoe Point offering good cliff walking to Cudden Point and Perranuthnoe. To the east of the beach one can ascend Lesceave Cliff to Rinsey Head and the ruined engine house at Wheal Prosper.

Just 10 minutes’ walk from the beautiful sandy beach and boasting stunning views across Praa Sands to the Lizard peninsula beyond, the handsome farmhouse at Pentreath Farm was once a staging post for the London stagecoach and now offers a very comfortable apartment. Peaceful and quiet and retaining original features in its converted interior and enjoying its own garden area, and sits beside the family-run working flower farm and an unobtrusive family camping field. The nearby beach sports a café and bar and fish and chip shop. Surfing lessons pick up from the farm and fishing trips can be arranged. Penzance, St Michael’s Mount (N.T.), Minack open air theatre and Tate Gallery at St Ives are all a short drive. Pub and shop 0.5 mile.
