Once settled in your choice of our Cornish cottages, this historic county invites exploration. Where better to start than Launceston, the gateway to Cornwall, an ancient market town which was once the capital of the old Duchy. It is quintessentially Cornish, with its Georgian houses, narrow streets and market square. Launceston Castle dominates the surrounding landscape - perched on top of a large, natural mound - in a strategically important position controlling the river crossing in and out of Cornwall. All around Launceston the area oozes history and is dotted with villages and hamlets set amid open fields - a delight for the visitor and walker.
