Among our South Devon holiday cottages is this comfortable property on the so-called English Riviera. Nestled proudly in a sheltered bay on the rugged south west coast and surrounded by Devon's magnificent countryside, this has been one of the UK's most popular destinations since the late 18th century. Little Grange is situated in Babbacombe, an area of Torquay just a mile from the harbour, but it has its own attractions. High on the cliff top there are attractive gardens, a theatre, shops and restaurants plus the Babbacombe Downs cliff top promenade, which is the highest promenade in the country and part of the South West Coastal Path. There are stunning views across Lyme Bay and, on a clear day, it is possible to see as far as Golden Cap and Portland Bill in Dorset. The small, sheltered beach below at Oddicombe is popular, although access is quite steep. To make the journey down to the beach it is possible to travel on the Babbacombe Cliff Railway, which has been operating for almost 80 years.
In a splendid location for enjoying the English Riviera, this comfortable cottage lies close to two local beaches – Oddicombe, reached by cliff railway (500 yards), and Babbacombe, a renowned scuba diving centre. Walking the Downs, taking in the stunning sea views, is a delight in itself, and there is a local theatre here too. Kents Caverns, Babbacombe Model Village, Bygones (Victorian style shops) and Torquay Golf Club are among a feast of local attractions, whilst the quaint fishing port of Brixham and Paignton, with its famous zoo and coastal steam train rides to Dartmouth, are just a short drive away. Boats can be hired at Torquay’s pretty harbour and a host of events and festivals are held in the area throughout the season. Pubs serving food and local shops are found in Babbacombe, 50 yards.
