Just a few miles to the south is Totnes a charming Devon town built on a hill rising up from the River Dart with a bustling main street and quayside with restored warehouses. Totnes Castle dominates the skyline and offers splendid views of the town and Dart Valley from its ramparts. Just a couple of miles up the road on the edge of Dartmoor National Park is Buckfastleigh, a small town with a wealth of family attractions, including Buckfast Abbey - a living Benedictine monastery, the South Devon Railway's steam-operated branch line to Totnes, the Butterfly Farm and Otter Sanctuary.

Set adjoining the owners’ home, it lies 3.5 miles from Totnes – a thriving market town offering trips up the River Dart. Dartmouth’s bustling waterfront, great shops and restaurants, as well as the sailing resort of Salcombe and the magnificent sandy beaches at Blackpool Sands are within easy driving distance as are Buckfast Abbey, Dartington Hall and Saltram House (N.T.). Dartmoor National Park’s rugged grandeur and quaint villages are a little further afield. Riding, golf and sailing are available locally. Pub serving food and shops 2 miles.
