For visitors to Devon holiday cottages make an ideal base if staying on the English Riviera. Sun and sea lovers can select between some 20 beaches along this stretch of the coast. Well within reach of Torquay, these properties are in the village of Maidencombe, which has changed very little over time with the thatched cottages and a pub being a picturesque feature of the village. The sand and shingle beach of Maidencombe Beach is a delightful little cove, surrounded by red sandstone cliffs. There is good access to the coastal paths, giving excellent views of the rugged coastline, and the walk to Watcombe which passes beneath Giant Rock leading to a beautiful sandy beach is recommended.

Property Description

Set on the coast road, just 600 yards above sheltered Maidencombe Beach and the village’s pretty thatched inn, these three very comfortably furnished properties all have separate entrances and enjoy use of an acre of attractively landscaped gardens with extensive sea views. They are ideally situated for the coastal path, yet still enjoy a peaceful and tranquil setting for abundant local wildlife. Primrose, a ground floor apartment and Bluebell (set on the first floor) are situated in a purpose built extension to the owners’ Victorian residence whilst Laurel is a two storey wing of the original house. The ‘English Riviera’ is famous for its mild climate and is ideal for year round breaks. Torquay with its many amenities is only 4 miles away and Teignmouth, Dartmouth, South Hams and Dartmoor are all within easy reach. Golf and good walking locally. Shops 2 miles.
