Yorkshire cottages like Mill Cottage are a great rural retreat yet provide easy access to some of the most scenic areas in the north of England. Nearby is Swaledale, the most northerly of the main Yorkshire Dales. Whilst not the largest of dales, some say it is the prettiest and the charming and market town of Richmond guards its entrance. Barnard Castle is just a few miles away. This delightful market town with impressive old shop fronts, a cobbled market square and, just out of town, the French chateau-style Bowes Museum lies in Teesdale, the most pastoral of the Durham Dales.
