In a nutshell: Wood burning stove, wi-fi, short walk to pub. When it comes to holiday cottages North Yorkshire has some lovely properties in unspoilt villages. Cropton is a small village on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors with a village green and local pub with its own brewery. The walking in the area is excellent and a walk to Rosedale and the main village in the dale is Rosedale Abbey is a must. This is one of the prettiest dales and the village consists of a collection of quaint Yorkshire cottages a couple of pubs, an art gallery, tea room, glass studio and the village green. Originally an iron ore mining community, you can still see the relics of the mines on a track around the head of the dale. Unfortunately the wonderful Rosedale Chimney that used to dominate the landscape was pulled down in the 1970s.
