Unique amongst our North Yorkshire cottages, Birdie Cottage is next to the owner's 9-hole golf course with one free round included in the rental price. However, the keen golfer will also be pleased to know that the cottage is just 15 miles from the famous Ganton course. Visiting golfers are welcome to play here, although it is worth noting that it is a challenging Championship Course and not suited to players without a current handicap certificate. Ganton has staged some of golf's biggest events including the 1949 Ryder Cup, 2000 Curtis Cup and 2003 Walker Cup. It is often misleadingly classed as a heathland course, but its character is more akin to links golf even though it is nine miles from the coast,
