This small group of traditional North Yorkshire cottages is in Harwood Dale, a small village just inland from the coast. It sits in the shallow valley of Broadlands Beck in the heather-clad surroundings of the North York Moors National Park. This idyllic village is perfect for walkers, cyclists and nature lovers. The neighbouring Harwood Dale Forest, just to the north of the village, is an area of coniferous woodland, mainly pines and spruces. It offers an interesting wood for bird watching and is home to roe deer, badgers, squirrels and foxes. Just beyond the edge of the forest on Standingstones Rigg there is a small stone circle known as the Druid's Circle, a collection of 14 stones with several cairns and barrows close by.
In the idyllic setting of Harwood Dale, one of the loveliest valleys of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, surrounded by rolling hills, meandering rivers and ancient woodland, a group of handsome 17th century barns have been converted to create these five individually designed cottages. Retaining original beams and offering particularly spacious accommodation, they sit round a pretty courtyard in the owners' 100 acres of grounds which visitors are free to roam, enjoying glorious views and a nature reserve with a 5 acre wildlife lake. There is also a fenced children's play area. With the Heritage coast just 3 miles away, picturesque Robin's Hood Bay only 6 miles and the North York Moors Steam Railway a mere 30 minutes' drive, the cottages offer a wonderful holiday base in a fascinating part of Yorkshire.
