The High Barn

Cathy's Say

In a nutshell: Beautiful interior, all bedrooms en-suite, short drive to beach. Among the holiday cottages Yorkshire can offer are this group of properties in peaceful countryside just outside Beverley. Most people know Beverley for its beautiful Minster which dominates the town, a masterpiece of medieval architecture with wonderful stone carvings inside. But there is much more to discover. Tucked away down narrow, medieval streets are antique shops and craft arcades, and the market squares are a riot of colour on market days. A very pleasant walk from the Minster, through Beverley's historic streets and market places, will bring you to the beautiful St Mary's Church where, if you look carefully, you'll find the carved rabbit which Lewis Carroll brought to life as the March Hare in Alice in Wonderland. Beverley is gaining a reputation as a festival town. A prestigious programme of events features folk music, puppets, comedy, medieval music and literature. There's even a kite festival, and a Festival of Christmas complete with Victorian market.

Property Description

Just 7 miles from the lovely sands at Hornsea with both blue flag beaches and excellent boat launching facilities, this small group of top quality cottages are grouped around a spacious, beautifully landscaped, courtyard garden and set in a peaceful country park 4 miles from Beverley and within 30 miles of the fascinating city of York. The beautiful interiors combine old beams and mellow brickwork with smart contemporary furnishings to offer immaculate spacious accommodation with every bedroom having a luxury ensuite shower or bathroom. In the grounds a well stocked 5 acre fishing lake is sure to please anglers and there are peaceful picnic places and open areas for dog exercise as well as award winning “David Bellamy” nature reserve, a pleasant farm walk and 9 hole par 3 golf course; a safely enclosed childrens play area, a crown green bowls lawn, french boules and a ball games field are all nearby. Though not a “working farm” there are a number of “adopted” animals to meet from Alpacas to ponies and ex battery hens - so hopefully fresh eggs for breakfast and lots of fun for everyone.
