You can fish for salmon, brown trout and sea trout at various places along the River Esk, and Whitby is also an excellent venue for the sea fisherman. With stunning views the Esk Valley Rail Line is considered one of the most scenic routes in the country. It runs for 36 miles from Whitby to Grosmont where it then connects with the North Yorkshire Railway.
