The seaside holiday is a great British tradition and it is easy to see why Norfolk cottages by the sea are so popular. With mile after mile of wide sand, pine forests, salt marshes and mud flats our Norfolk cottages by the sea offer great accommodation for those looking to be close to quiet beaches. Even on busy summer days, you can feel like you have the place to yourself. It's clear why artists and writers as well as holidaymakers have flocked to the Norfolk coast for years. Along this stunning coastline you will find beautiful stretches of soft golden sands and pebbled beaches, quaint, colourful beach and traditional family resorts. There is something for all ages to enjoy whilst staying at one of our holiday cottages on the Norfolk coast.
Hunstanton has a wonderful Victorian charm - a mix of traditional seaside holiday destination and quaint old village with a lovely family-friendly atmosphere. It is in the unique position of being on the east coast yet west facing, so after a lovely bright day you could see a gorgeous sunset over the sea.
Brancaster has a picturesque working harbour and is famous for its seafood, particularly mussels, whilst the beach is perfect for kite flying, water sports or just soaking up sunshine and enjoying the refreshing sea air.
Wells Next The Sea (pictured above) is a traditional fishing port and lovely holiday town on the North Norfolk coast. Despite its name, it is now separated from the sea as a result of silting and lies a mile inland. On the coast you will find a sandy beach, backed by dunes and pine trees, which stretches for miles where you can enjoy peace and solitude.
Blakeney is a lovely coastal village and one of the most enchanting on the North Norfolk Coast. Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, there are endless views across the estuary and salt marshes out to Blakeney Point, owned by the National Trust.
Sheringham is a traditional seaside town that grew up around its old fishing village. Here you can wander the little streets filled with interesting shops and plenty of places to enjoy excellent food including locally caught crab and lobster, or take a stroll along the cliff tops from where you will get great views down to the beach.
If you are staying at any of our Norfolk cottages by the sea a trip to Cromer is not to be missed. It is a classic Norfolk seaside town. Beautiful landscaped cliff gardens and the promenade overlook fine sandy beaches and the delightful Victorian pier where you can try and catch you own Cromer crab, the delicacy the town is famous for. We have several Norfolk cottages by the sea in Cromer.
Winterton-on-Sea is very picturesque and has a lot of charm, with sand dunes and thatched cottages and a never-ending sandy beach where you may be lucky enough to see seals bobbing up and down in the clear blue water.
One of our Norfolk cottages by the sea makes an ideal base for birdwatchers to enjoy one of the best stretches of coastline in the UK for bird watching, with some of the finest nature reserves in the country. The coastline contains some very valuable habitats including extensive areas of sand and shingle beaches, saltmarsh, reedbed and fresh, brackish and saline lagoons. The Wash, which is the biggest estuary in the UK, is internationally important for large numbers of wintering birds because of its vast expanses of inter-tidal mudflats for feeding and safe roost sites. Geographically, Norfolk protrudes into the North Sea towards Scandinavia. It is this position that ensures Norfolk gets a steady supply of migrating birds during the spring and autumn.
